Telstra Windows Phone Wi-Fi Hotspot Update is Out Now
Microsoft have started to rollout the 7740 firmware update for the HTC HD7 (Update: and the HTC Mozart ) on the Telstra network. Rather ironically this update is being pushed out a a day after Telstra delisted the phone from being able to be purchased from their web site (see http://madprops.org/blog/windows-phone-7-in-australia/) .
The update will be prompted for installed when you connect the phone to the Zune desktop software.

Have a Samsung Focus on Optus. Moving to Telstra anyway, but heard rumours that my phone won’t be supported in the ways of Wi-Fi anyhow. Can anyone shed some light on that?

I had read somewhere that some Samsung phone would not be able to support WiFi Hotspot as the chipset could not support the feature… That being said i do know someone with a Samsung phone (not sure which one) that does support WiFi Hotspots…

This isn’t the 7740 Update, this is ONLY a HTC Firmware update that bring tethering. 7740 is a seperate Windows Phone OS update that fixes a voicemail and Exchange bug. Telstra has NOT released that yet…
