Steve Ballmer confirmed to be at WMC

Steve Ballmer CEO, Microsoft has been confirmed to be attending the Mobile World Conference. This is the best confirmation so far that Microsoft are going to be making some pretty BIG announcements at the event as you don’t roll out the big guns to announce a point upgrade of a phone OS (namely Windows Mobile 6.5.3).

AMOLED Screen look AWESOME!!!

Picture says it all really… Excellent black contrast even at a shallow viewing angle.

Just wish that even OLED devices like the Zune HD were available in Australia. Will be interesting to see if there are any Windows Phone 7 devices with AMOLED screens at Mobile World Conference next week.

MIX10 keynote speaker and sessions announced

Xbox360_V_web Microsoft have just announced that Joe Belfiore (Corporate Vice President of Windows Mobile Program Management at Microsoft) will be doing the Keynote at MIX10. It would seem it is highly likely that we will see a lot of information about Windows Phone at MIX as they have also announced 11 Windows Phone sessions.

What is interesting is the session titles that have been announced have all entitled “Windows Phone Application and Game Development”, this is the clearest sign so far that the Windows Phone OS is being designed as a great platform for both application and for games. The session titles are obviously just place holder session titles that I suspect they will be updated after the widely hoped public unveiling of Windows Phone 7 at Mobile World Conference the February.

Certainly the newer ARM processors such as the 1ghz Snapdragon and the Nvidia Tegra that now appear in mobile devices like the HTC HD2 and Zune HD have the grunt to make phone a very compelling mobile gaming device.
